Canon Ed den Blaauwen SSC

Canon Ed den Blaauwen was appointed as Rector of Christ Church in January of 2006 and moved to the Quad Cities from Macomb where he served as Rector of St George’s Parish Church for five years.

He continues to serve as Canon Missioner of the Diocese of Quincy and Diocesan Choir Coordinator. He is a long standing member of the Society of the Holy Cross (SSC) and is Executive Administrator for Forward in Faith North America. He continues to work tirelessly for the rebuilding of the church of God into a deeply spiritual, scripturally faithful and orthodox body of believers

Born in South Africa in 1956 of Dutch parents who moved there from Holland after WWII and settled in Johannesburg, he obtained a B.A degree in Theology from Rhodes University, Grahamstown, served two years in the armed forces and then entered St Paul’s Theological College for priestly formation over the next two years. While a priest in the Church of the Province of Southern Africa Fr Ed served in numerous parishes during a period of eighteen years gaining much insight into the differing cultures of his native land. He came to the Diocese of Quincy in 2000.

Fr Ed and Julia were married just prior to entering St Paul’s College and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They have two daughters, Tracy and Megan, and as a family have served our Lord faithfully in many areas of ministry.

The family has acquired a house in East Moline and looks forward to meeting the Parishioners of Christ Church as well as all who visit for Worship, Ministry or Fellowship.
